Getting going
-------------
Full information on hardware requirements, conditions of use and installation
are contained in the file AL.DOC. This also contains a registration form and
a tutorial manual to take you through an example database.
To get a printed copy of AL.DOC, put the disc in drive A: and enter
PRINT A:AL.DOC
at the DOS prompt >.
Example databases
-----------------
Two example database definitions are included on the distribution disc.
The first, CLUB, is the definition for a sports club described in the
tutorial. If you wish to experiment with using a database straightaway,
without going through the definition phase, use this database with the
Access Tutorial in AL.DOC. If you wish to go through the Definition
Tutorial with this database, then delete CLUB.* from your working disk.
The second, CASHBOOK, is a simple cashbook accounting system. If amounts are
entered as >0.00 for income and <0.00 for expenditure then the balance will
be given by the total, over a listing, of the amount field. By selecting on
Account and/or Heading when you do a listing, you can get balances for specific
groups of transactions.
